The Russian Civil War (1953-54): Part 2

'Maybe there's still a chance,' Ivan thought. 'But what kind of chance? A miracle? An escape? K. H. going insane and releasing us from this f**cking cell? That's what where counting on, sadly'. 'I should have chosen to become a mathematician, not to be this dumbass Reynd agent'.
Having these nasty thoughts, the 'dumbass Reynd agent' didn't realize a Kaufzam officer (by his clothes, from Military Unit 12) was sitting just next to him. 'Ahem,' the officer coughed. 'I am capt. Andreiov Mirankelvici, officer under the command of chancellor Kaufzam. Or so I was told. It is not my decision. I hate my life, I kill innocent people...!' 'Okay, capt. Complaint, tell me straight. I am gonna die, ain't I?,' the Ivan answered. 'No. I started a revolt in this penitentiary center and K. H. is panicked. I also transmitted your location on the radio through binary system. Now, get up and go through that door, you buttheads!' 'That's my boy,' Ivan whispered while running through the hall.
Suddenly, their cell burst into fire. Probably somebody hit a gas conduct. The building was a total chaos, much like a teenager's bedroom. Bodies were everywhere, almost everything was exploding, it was total destruction, but Ivan continued rushing to exit. When he reached the door, it was closed! 'What a sh*t!,' he sweared.
In a second, the whole building blown.

'Cough, cough, cough,' Ivan struggled to breath.  He was in the Principal Military Reynd Hospital, located in Sankt Petersburg. After the explosion, his diaphragm was severely damaged. Now a part of it has been replaced with an artificial implant, which first needed an oxygen mask. Afterwards, he managed to survive without any additional oxygen.
Though he could breath, his eyes were blurred. The physician ran a diagnostic and discovered that he needed a retina transplantation. And it wasn't any easy in the 6th decade of the 20th century.
Actually, it was the riskiest operation possible. He could lose all his optical nerves during this operation.

Finally, the doctor finished. And it was successful! Ivan didn't even need glasses, it was the best transplantation until then. When he woke up, he saw Sir, sitting by his bed. It was only the second time he would see him. Andrei was also in the Emergency Room. Happy, Ivan cheered, 'I think I am gonna shoot Kaufzam'n the back!'
